SHELDON, Iowa -- Phyllis M. Kamphoff, 83, of Sheldon passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at her home in Sheldon.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. David Brower officiating. Graveside services will be 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Phyllis Margaret Kamphoff, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Aldrich) Delaney, was born July 2, 1921, in Le Mars, Iowa. She attended country school and school in Le Mars.

On Jan. 11, 1947, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Kamphoff in Sioux City. After their marriage, the couple settled in Sheldon, where for over 40 years, they operated Kamphoff Oil Company. Her husband preceded her in death on March 3, 1989, in Sioux City. After his death, Phyllis remained in Sheldon, where she was employed at Lawson's Hardware. She retired in 2000 at the age of 79.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheldon, the Morning Circle and the Women's Guild of the church. She was treasurer of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for over 50 years. She was a volunteer at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as reading and cooking for her family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Denny and his wife, Sandy Kamphoff of Sheldon; a daughter, Pamela and her husband, Alfred Lee Wassenaar of Sheldon; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Charlene Boyle and Alwayne Klemme, both of Le Mars, LaVonne Brouillette of Salix, Esther Auck and Kathern Tapp, both of California and Thelma Coats of Oklahoma; as well as other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marilyn; and three brothers, Ellsworth, Gerald and Bill.
