FRED BENECKE, 82, DIES AT SIOUX FALLS; FORMER RESIDENT HERE
Fred Benecke, 82, former Le Mars resident, died Oct. 23 at Sioux Falls. He was a brother-in-law of Herman Steinfadt and a nephew of Dora Bonnema, all of Le Mars.
Born July 17, 1880, in Hamburg, Germany, be came to the country and settled in LeMars in 1911. His marriage to Dora J. Steinfadt took place Oct. 21, 1919, at Hawarden. The couple moved to Sioux Falls in 1945 from Luverne, Minn. Mr. Benecke was employed in the pork cooler department at the Morrell packing plant there for eight years, retiring in 1950. He was a member of Faith Lutheran church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. George Olson and Mrs. Bert Flaten, both of Sioux Falls, two sons, Charles of Sioux Falls and Jerald of St. Paul Park, Minn.; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter in infancy.
Funeral services were held Oct. 26 at the Miller funeral home, Sioux Falls. Rev. Victor F. Gerike officiated. Burial was at Hills of Rest, Sioux Falls.
