Port, Martha Bettana 1947 - 1914

Note: According to her husband's obituary her maiden name is Gooden.

Martha Bettana Port was born at Holladgeburg, Blair county, Penn., on March 16, 1847, and passed away at her home In Akron, Iowa, October 20, 1914, aged 67 years, 7 months and 5 days. She was united In marriage with Henry H. Port on October 10, 1864.

They resided In Scott county for a time and then moved to Poweshlek county, la., and from there came to Plymouth county, which has been their home until her taking away. Mrs. Port had been a faithful Christian worker and a member of the M. 13. church for forty years.

Besides the husband, there were eight children, all of whom stood at her bedside when the summons came. There are also one brother and one slater to mourn her death.

Funeral services were held in the Akron M. E. church and interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
