Isabel Helen Port, 87, died Tuesday, May 30 at the Akron Care Center after a brief Illness.
Services were held Saturday, June 3, 1995, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Akron with Monsignor Gerald Lyon. officiating. Eva Brown was Organist. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. Casket bearers were Richard Port, Brian Port, Don Camden, Dan Sieben born, Bob Wright, and Lonnie Wardrip.
Mrs. Port was born March 30, 1908 in Sioux City to Aloysious J. and Keturah (Housego) Loetz. She was on the first woman's basketball team at Central High School in Sioux City, graduating in 1927. She was married to Orval Port on July 28. 1928 in Sioux City. He passed away November 16, 1977. They lived in Sioux City, Minot, North Dakota, and later farmed In Hancock Township in Iowa from 1944 until 1972. She lived In Westfield from 1972 until 1991 when she moved to Akron, and then entered the Care Center In 1993.
She worked for Briar Cliff College and St. Anthony's orphanage. In 1978 she was employed by the Green Thumb and Head Start programs. She was a member of the Golden Age and the Widow to Widow
clubs.Survivors include two sons, Ted and his wife Kathy Port of Westfield, Kenneth and his wife, Bobble Port of New Hampshire: one daughter. Kathaleen Siebenborn of Belleview. Nebraska: a daughter-in-law, Grace Port of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers; 1 sister, Josephine; one son, Jim Port; one son-in-law Harold Siebenborn; and two grandsons, Pat and Arnie Port.
