Fay Port
Fay Port, 87, of Akron, Iowa, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1988 at his home.
Services were held Nov. 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist church, Akron. Rev. Tim Mason officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Akron under direction of Schroeder funeral home. Gary Tucker, soloist sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and Amazing Grace" accompanied by Eric Banks. Pallbearers were Virgil Morehead, James Morehead, Aden Lucken, Alan Lucken, Daryl Port and David Port.
Mr. Port was born Feb. 7, 1901, in Akron, to Hal and Iva (Wells) Port. He married Alma Morehead Nov. 20, 1919, in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Akron and Westfield area all their married life until moving to Akron in 1969. He worked for Ridgewood Apartments and also for many area farmers. Mr. Port was a 50-year member of Wesley United Methodist church where he served as usher for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth Port of Akron; a brother, Roy Port of Fullerton, Calif., and two grandsons, Dale Port of Richmond, Va., and David Port of St. Paul, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alva.
