Joy Berniece McCorkell of Lodi passed on November 9, 2009, in Lodi, at the age of 93.

Born September 10, 1916 in Akron, Iowa, to Charles and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Morehead. Joy lived in Lodi for 43 years and was a long-time member of the United Congregational Christian Church. In her younger years she enjoyed gardening, reading and working word puzzles. She was the consummate homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and true friend.

She is survived by her 3 children; Janet Poteet, Judy McCarty and Mike McCorkell, all of Lodi, 8 grandchildren, 13, great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, 4 brothers and 6 sisters

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at United Congregational Christian Church, 701 S. Hutchins St. is Lodi. Donations are preferred to United Congregational Christian Church of Lodi, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
