Addie Luken, 85, of Le Mars, formerly of Craig passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday September 1, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with Reverend Matt Hewitt presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be anytime after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a Parish rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday morning at the Church for one hour prior to the Mass.

The former Addie Rose Burris was born on December 25, 1925 in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Agatha (Burke) Burris. She grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron Public High School. Addie was united in marriage to Darrell E. Luken December 10, 1946 at Elko, NV. Following their marriage the couple lived for many years in Brunsville until moving to Craig in 1971. While they lived in Craig, they owned and operated Luken’s Tavern. Her husband Darrell passed away on March 27, 1994. Addie moved to Le Mars in 2001.
Addie was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed frequent road trips to Sioux City with her close friend Dorothy. She was an avid sports fan and followed sports on television.
Survivors include her four children: Sherry Luken of Georgetown, TX, Linda Lee and her husband Steve of Phoenix, AZ, Greg Luken and his wife Susan of Slidell, LA, and Mike Luken and his wife Patti of Le Mars, IA; eight grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Sandy Borchers of Gravois Mills, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Darrell; two sisters; and four brothers.
