Lawrence M. Ostermyer
Lawrence Mike Ostermyer, 64, Akron, died Monday (Dec. 16, 1985) in the Akron city hospital after a long illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson officiated. Franerte Ansel was flutist. Hymns were "Abide With Me" and "The Lord's Prayer".
Pallbearers were Patrick Ostermyer, Mark Ostermyer, Wesley Ansel, Matthew Popken, Tracy Popken and Gary Foss.Mr. Ostermyer was born Nov. 19, 1921 to Andrew and Katie Ostermyer at Woodbine. He farmed in the Anthon, Correctionville and Akron areas for many years. He was employed as a welder in California for eight years. He married Phyllis Wolken, Nov. 9, 1940 in South Sioux City. They retired to Akron in 1982. Mrs. Ostermyer died Nov. 18, 1983.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Van Wyhe of Akron, Sharon Popken of Le Mars and Deanna Foss of Hastings, Minn.; two sons, Ray and Lonnie, both of Akron; seven sisters, Margaret Hiller of Cherokee, Celia DeGoosh of Bradford, Vt., Clara Worrell of Hornick, Helen Fellman of Pleasanton, Calif., Marcella Hand of Fort Madison, Evelyn Van Meter of Kansas City, Mo., and Irene Nystrup of Westfield; and one brother, Ernest of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis, a brother, Leo Ostermyer and a sister, Hilda KirkPatrick, both of Sioux City.
