Death Claims Mrs. P. H. Groth. Was Member of Pioneer Family.
Death claimed Mrs. Katherine Groth, 48, wife of the late P.H. Groth, former residents of Plymouth county, at her home in Spencer, Iowa, Tuesday following an illness of several months.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Spencer and the body was taken to Remsen where final services were held and interment made.
Before her marriage Mrs. Groth was Katherine Wandersheid. She was born in Remsen and in girlhood lived in Oyens where he father was in business for many years.
She leaves a son, Franklin Groth, and a daughter, Izetta, living in Spencer and her mother, Mrs. Paul Wandersheid of Le Mars, four brothers, Martin of Le Mars, Nicholas of Marion township, John of Sioux City and Roman of Union township and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Masuen of Burbank, Calif., Mrs. Lillian Milfs of Remsen and Mrs. Ed Bergin, of Iona, Minn.
Relatives living in Le Mars and Plymouth county went to Spencer Wednesday evening to attend the services Thursday and accompanied the remains to Remsen. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Aug. 4, 1939, page 1.
