Mrs. Herman A. (Jennie) Ahrens, 64, Elk Point, died Wednesday, April 11 at a nursing home in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 13 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point. The Rev. Marvin Ketterling officiated. Burial was in Elk Point Cemetery. Pallbearers were Virgil Gabel, Dale Huettman, Harry Hoffman, Richard Waterman, David Ahrens and Richard Gabel. A prayer service was at 6:30 o'clock Thursday, April 12 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ahrens was born December 23, 1908, in Salix. She moved to South Dakota with her parents. She was married October 18,1928, in Sioux City. They lived on a farm until retiring and moving to Elk Point.
Survivors include the widower; four daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Irene) Gabel and Mrs. Dale (Mary) Huettman, both of Akron, Mrs. Richard (Ruby) Waterman of Sioux City and Mrs. Harry (Rosie) Hoffman of Ireton; a son, Harry of Sioux City; four brothers, Jim of Raymond, Nebr., Harry of Rock Valley, Iowa, Earl of Elk Point and Albert in Washington, and two sisters Mrs. Marie Knecht of Akron and Stella in Oregon and 14 grandchildren.
