Helmer Larson, 73, an Elk Point farmer, died Sunday at Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls after an illness of several months.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. July 11 at the Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point, with the Rev. Martin Ketterling officiating. There were military graveside services by the American Legion of Elk Point Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron, Iowa.

Mr. Larson was born April 24, 1900 at Elk Point and farmed all of his life in the Elk Point and Akron areas until he was hospitalized earlier this year. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Mina Waag and Mrs. Sophie Larson of Akron; two brothers, John W. of Akron and Edward of Elk Point; four nephews and two nieces.

Pallbearers were Cliff Waag, Raymond Waag, Donald Waag, David Swanson, Clifford Jervick and Donald Offerdahl.
