Prominent Akron banker Henning Shoulberg, 95, died November 18 at the Akron hospital after a brief illness. Services were held at 2 p.m., Nov. 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Akron, with the Rev. David Roy officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home.
Casket bearers were Lyle F. Jacobs, Robert Tucker, Harlan Klave, Alve Ericson, Carl Hitzemann and Arnold Helseth.
Mr. Shoulberg was born in a sod house on May 20,1878, in Union County, S.D. He married Helen Robinson Oct. 4,1910, at Sioux City.
He began his banking career in 1905 as a teller for First National Bank in Akron. He became president of the bank on June 10,1941, and retired from that position on Jan. 12,1971. Since that time, he had been honorary chairman of the board of directors of the bank.
Mr. Shoulberg was a former Akron councilman for several year sand a former longtime member of the Akron school board, which he served as president for several years.
Survivors include the widow; two sons, J. R. of Southern Pines, N.C., and Kenneth of Webster Grove, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Berger (Elizabeth) Graves of Alton, Ill.; mine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
