Heeren, Freda Caroline 1884 - 1972

Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Heeren, age 87, were held on Wednesday morning, August 23 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Akron, Rev. David Roy officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Akron, the Schroeder Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Pall bearers were: Wendell Granstrom, Arden Heeren, Kervyn Heeren, Raymond Heeren, Eldon Heeren and James Heeren.

Mrs. Heeren died Saturday, August 19 at the Akron Hospital after a long illness.

The former Freda Caroline Jans, she was born December 9, 1884 at Lowden, Iowa. She married Edward Heeren on July 5, 1905 at Seney. They farmed near Le Mars until 1914, then moved to Union County, west of Akron. They retired and moved to Akron in 1947. Mr. Heeren died in 1950.

Survivors are sons, Wesley of Akron, Elmer of Elk Point; daughters, Mrs. Bernice Heasley of Ridgefield, Wash., Mrs. Edith Granstrom of Auburn, Wash., a brother, Herb Jans of Carter, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gapter of Sheridan, Wyo.; 24 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
