Carl Klaschen, 61, died Friday evening , May 6, at his home in Remsen. He had lived until the past year for 10 years in Cherokee.
Survivors include: His wife, Mrs. Edna Klaschen; a son, Earl of Cherokee; a daughter, Wilma Anderson of Sheldon, Wis.; a step-daughter, Nena Shafer, Cleghorn; a step-son, Arthur Prieb, Chicago. Eight grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, from St. Paul’s Evangelical church in Remsen. – Le Mars Globe Post, May 9, 1955, page 9

Funeral services for Carl W. Klaschen, 60, a retired Remsen farmer who died Friday, May 6, in Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars, were at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church in Remsen.
Rev. Paul Wuebben officiated and burial was in the Remsen cemetery.
Mr. Klaschen was born Nov. 5, 1894, in Germany and came to the United States as a youth. He farmed in the Remsen community many years before retiring to town about a year and a half ago.
Survivors are the widow, Edna; two sons, Earl of Larabee and Arthur of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Anderson of Sheldon, Wis., and Mrs. Ralph Schaeffer of Cleghorn. Three brothers, Frank and John, both of Wolsey, S.D., and Fritz in Germany, and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Koch of Remsen.

Note: It is possible that Edna Klaschen’s stone, which was in this lot in the 1970’s, was removed as she got remarried in 1961.
