Death claims Mary Scherner, Remsen’s Oldest Resident.
Miss Mary Scherner, 106, Remsen’s oldest resident, died Saturday, July 7 at Floyd Valley Hospital, Le Mars. Miss Scherner was born April 20, 1873 in Drage, Germany, one of a family of four girls. After the death of Miss Harnack in 1950, Mary sold the shop and retired. She had made her home with her niece, Mrs. Olinda Shields.

Pallbearers were Wilbur Hasenbank, Vernon Hasenbank, Marvin Hasenbank, Ronn Huettman, Dale Huettmann and Richard Huettmann. The Moeller funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mary was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church, a member of the church choir for 40 years and a longtime member of the Ladies Aid.
