Ben Ernsterhoff Died Thursday

Lived In County Fifty-five Years

Bernard Ernsterhoff, widely known retired farmer, who lived at 18 Third Avenue SE., Le Mars, died August 21 in Sacred Heart hospital after a long illness.

Ben Ernsterhoff was born May 12, 1872, at Bellevue, Iowa, and came to Plymouth county 55 years ago. On August 17, 1897, he was married at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Le Mars to Katherine Groetken, who survives him with the following children: A son, Joe, of Le Mars; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Lampert, Sioux City; Mrs. J . F. Bortscheller, Le Mars, and Mrs. George Baaker, Sioux City. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Harry Hayes of Ottumwa, and three grandchildren. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Saturday, with Msgr. J. D. Fisch officiating and burial was in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Ernsterhoff was elected to the board of directors of the First National bank 13 years ago and was made vice president of the bank and served in that capacity until his death.
