Edo R. Frerichs Taken By Death

Well Known Farmer In Community

E. R. Frerichs, 74, well known farmer and stockman of Plymouth county, died Friday at the Sacred Heart hospital He had been suffering from an internal malady for some time and recently went, to the hospital for an operation.

Edo Reintz Frerichs was born in Oldenburg, Germany, October, 1866, where he received his early education. He came with his parents to America in 1881. The family lived near Sterling, Ill., for two years where he attended school.

In 1883 the family came to Le Mars and have been residents here ever since. Mr. Frerichs worked on the home farm until he was 21 years of age and then embarked in farming on his own account in Grant township.

Mr. Frerichs was married March 10, 1899, to Helena Schultz, member of another pioneer family.

Three years after their marriage they moved from the farm west of Le Mars and bought a fine farm three miles east of Le Mars in Marion township where he lived the remainder of his life.

Successful Farmer

Mr. Frerichs was a successful farmer, industrious and a good manager and accumulated a competency. He was respected in the community and was an accommodating neighbor with a kindly word for everyone. He was a life long member of the Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Charles and Emil, of Le Mars and one daughter, Mrs. Bernard Hoefer, of Alton, four grandchildren, Helen, Edo and Charles Frerichs, and Betty Jean Hoefer; two brothers, George Frerichs and Martin Frerichs of Le Mars; two sisters, Mrs. Gerhard Harms, Le Mars, and Mrs. Eilert Dirks of Brunsville. A brother, John, preceded him in death.

Services Held Monday

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the residence and at 2 o'clock services were held in St. John's Lutheran church. Rev. L L. Belk, the pastor officiating and interment made in the city cemetery.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral of Edo Frerichs Monday were: Mr. and Mrs. Ira Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Percy, Mr. and Mrs. James Ruhlow, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Giffrow, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Giffrow, all of Sioux City.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wagner and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Harms. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harms, Mr. and Mrs. George Harms, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harms of Leeds.

Mr. and Mrs. Will Mammen and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Peters of Merrill and Henry Hoefer of Granvile.
