Mrs. E.H. [Frank] Spiecker,Long Time Resident of Remsen Died Saturday. Mrs. Margaretha Spiecker, for 68 years a resident of Remsen, died Saturday at her home in that town after a long illness.
Mrs. Spiecker came to Remsen in 1881 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Scheel. She was born in 1873 at Luzerne, Iowa. In 1895 she was married to Frank Spiecker, who for 30 years was cashier of the Farmers Savings Bank, now the First Trust and Savings bank in Remsen. A son Emory H. Spiecker is now vice president of the Toy Nation al bank in Sioux City.
Other survivors include another son, Carl, of Winner, S.D.; a daughter, Miss Thelma Spiecker of Remsen; a brother, Adolph Scheel, and a sister, Miss Alma Scheel, both of Long Beach, Calif.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran church with Rev. A Noack officiating and burial will be in the Remsen cemetery. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 24, 1949, page 4.
