Grant Fred Hanstein, 75, rural Le Mars, died unexpectedly Friday, June 25, at his farm home. He had been a Plymouth county resident for half a century.

He was born March 3, 1896, in Columbus, Ohio, and came to Plymouth county as a young man. He has since lived here and was a retired farmer. His marriage to Mathilda Baack took place Dec. 15, 1920, in Reading township, Sioux county. His parents were Fred and Flora Miller Hanstein.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at St, John Lutheran church, Craig. Rev. 0. K. Anderson officiated and burial was in the Craig Lutheran cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Mathilda, rural Le Mars; a daughter, Mrs. John (Marian) McHale.Brunsville; three sons, Edwin and Wendel, both of Denver, and Ronald of Le Mars; 10 grandchildren and ,a greatgrandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Mae Marian, Richmond, Ind.; Mrs. Edna McDougall, Takoma Park, Md., and Mrs. Ada Frohnhoefer, Corpus Christl, Tex.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Hanstein.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran church, Craig, and a veteran of world war I. He also was a member of Brunsville post, American Legion and of Plymouth county barracks, Le Mars.
