Lester S. Sanford

Funeral services for Lester W. Sanford, 90, a longtime Westfield resident who died Monday night at an Akron, Ia., hospital after a long sickness were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Westfield Congregational church with the Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery at Akron under the direction of the Berkemeier Rossow funeral home of Akron.

Pallbearers were Edwin Nelson, Dyke Spaulding, Percy Harrington, Byrel Neal , David Lilly, and Bryan Dreeszen.

Mr. Sanford was born at West Union, Ia., October 28, 1872. He married Olive Thompson January 26, 1916, at West Union.

Mr. Sanford was a freight conductor for Great Western railway for 12 years. He farmed near Westfield for some time before operating a garage in that city. He retired in 1940 and was a member of Brotherhood of Railway Train men.

Survivors include the widow, one son, Russell of Richmond, Cal., and one granddaughter and three great grandsons.

Berkemier Rossow funeral home of Akron was in charge of arrangements.
