RALPH ALLEN

Ralph J. Allen, 76, LeMars, died unexpectedly Tuesday (March 15, 1977) in Johnson township near Akron. He was a retired farmer and custodian.

Mr. Allen was born June 3, 1900, at Pierson to William Jay and Flora Hiller Allen. He lived in the Grand Meadow area in Cherokee county until moving to Cleghorn.

In 1953 he moved to LeMars and was with Westmar College until gong to Adaville in 1969. In 1972 he returned to LeMars where he has since made his home at 437 North Lynn Drive.

His marriage to Iva Mae Nafe took place May 31, 1923, near Pierson.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist church, LeMars. Burial will be in Grand Meadow cemetery near Washta under direction of the Mauer Funeral Home, LeMars. Rev. Denton Erickson will officiate.

Survivors are his wife of LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Reva Tomlinson, Spencer; four sons, Max of Waukon, Minn., Claire of Akron, Lowell of Meriden and Verle of LeMars; 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Myra Allen, Pierson and two brothers, Merl Allen, Pierson, and Earl Allen, Palm Springs, Calif.

Mr. Allen was a member of Calvary United Methodist church and was active in church activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray Allen.
