Mrs. H.C. Peterson, an old resident of Plymouth county, died at the home of Mrs. Chas. Wagner in Remsen on Friday night. The deceased had been in poor health for some time suffering from the infirmities of old age. Ms. Peterson was of Danish parentage, having been born in North Schleswig, which though now a German province then belonged to Denmark, on May 26, 1833. She lived there until thirty-five years of age and in 1868 came to America. In 1880 she was united in marriage with H.C. Peterson, a substantial farmer of Fredonia township, and they lived in that township until Mr. Peterson’s death a little over a year ago. She is survived by her step-son, P.H. Peterson, who gave her the care of a son in her old age. The funeral was held in the Lutheran church at Remsen yesterday and the remains were brought to Le Mars for interment beside those of her departed husband. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 3, 1910, page1.

Note: Meta Christina Schmidt is the second wife of H.C. Peterson. She married H.C. when she was 47 years old and he was 58.
