CHRIS KOERNER SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS.
Christian Koerner, an old resident of Le Mars, died at his home on Howard street on Tuesday of consumption after several months illness.
Mr. Koerner came to Le Mars from Remsen several years ago, and was employed as foreman at the Plymouth mill until forced by sickness to relinquish work.
Christian Koerner was born at Green Garden, Ill., on October 23, 1860, and died on Tuesday, November 8, 1910. He was united in marriage on July 8, 1887, with Miss Bertha Tenhoff, who with seven children survive to mourn the death of a good husband and loving father. The chidren are, Albert, Christian, Fred, Gerald, Ervin, Mabel and Harold. The deceased also leaves a number of brothers and other relatives residing in Remsen.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at St. John’s Evangelical church of which he was a member. Rev. H. J. Dommann, the pastor will officiate, and the remains will be taken to his old home in Remsen for interment. He was a member of the Remsen lodge of the Iowa Legion of Honor.
Mr. Koerner was a good citizen, quiet and unostentatious, and worked hard. He was possessed of a kind disposition and was highly regarded by all his neighbors as a fine man. His death is a severe blow to his wife and growing family, who have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. - Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Friday, Nov. 11, 1910, page 1.
