Relatives in this vicinity receiving word of the death of Walter Kloster, Ponca City, Oklahoma, brother of the late Andrew,Thorvald and C.P. Kloster from Le Mars on Sunday, February 26, 1961. Funeral services will be held in Newkirk, Tuesday, Feb. 28 - Le Mars Globe Post, Feb. 27, 1961, page 16.
Rites Due Tuesday
Walter J. Kloster, 95, died at his home, 331 Belmont, Sunday afternoon following an extended illness.
He was born in Skodborg, Denmark, on November 23, 1863. He came to the United States in 1880, and located in Remsen, Iowa, where he was married on June 18, 1881, to Tina Johnson.
He was a member of the First Lutheran church and had served on the Kildare School Board and the township board for many years.
Surviving him are his wife of the home, two sons, Iver J., Goodman, Mo., and J. Andrew, Wichita, Kansas, two daughters, Mrs. Louis Jacobs, Galena Park, Texas, and Mrs. C.E. Morrison, 1120 East Gary, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and a sister living in Copenhagen, Denmark, preceded Kloster in death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. A.E. Behrend, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Newkirk Cemetery under direction of the Stahl Funeral Service.
The family has suggested that those wishing to honor Kloster’s memory may do so by making a contribution to the First Lutheran radio broadcast fund.
