William L Harvey
William L. Harvey, 64, Akron, died Monday. Oct. 22, 1990, in a Sioux City hospital of a long illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Church of Christ in Akron, with Rev. Elmer Hodge officiating. Gary Tucker, vocalist, sang "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden", accompanied by Carol Harris, organist. Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Akron with military graveside rites conducted by Hoschler American Legion Post 186, of Akron; Post 241, American Legion of Le Mars; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 of Elk Point. Arrangements were under direction of Schroeder funeral home of Akron.
Pallbearers were Perry DeJong, Brad Harvey, Mike Harvey, Jerry McPherson, Dean Weyen, and Rick McPherson.
Mr. Harvey was born March 26, 1926 in Hawarden, the son of Orlando and Lillian (Bedard) ^Harvey. He married Dorothy Ellen McPherson July 28. 1946 at Hawarden. He was employed by Claeys Produce of
Akron for six years and with Plymouth Plumbing and Heating in Le Mars for seven years. He also operated Bill's Plumbing and Heating in Akron for seven years. He worked for the Department of Transportation in Plymouth county for 15 years, retiring in 1988.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Akron; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kris of Le Mars and William and Michele of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Russ (Diane) Skinner of Faribault, Minn.;
nine grandchildren; five brothers, Donald of Alcester, Glenn of Hawarden, Kenny of Akron, Orlando Jr. of Le Mars, and John of Windsor, Colo.; four sisters, Lois Waterbury and Maxine Boetger, both of El Paso, Tex. and Frances Rosenbaum and Margie Clarey, both of Akron.He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Holtgrewe.
