Mrs. Chris Huls

Mrs. Chris Huls, 73, 1401 W. 28th St., Sioux City, died Thursday (Jan. 6, 1983) in a Sioux City hospital of a long illness.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran church, Sioux City. The Rev. Leland Wilkens officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home of Akron. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Huls, the former Evelyn Katherine Lawrence, was born July 31, 1909 in Westfield, to William and Chloe Harrison Lawrence. She married Chris Huls, Aug. 15, 1928 in Akron. The couple farmed in the Westfield area until moving to Sioux City in 1952. She was a cook at St. Joseph hospital for 10 years and served as treasurer of the Lutheran Church Women.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kenneth of Sunnyville, Calif., Eugene of Jefferson, S.D. and Robert of Spirit Lake; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Margaret) Davis of Sloan, and Mrs. Richard (Joann) Harrington of Hardy, Ky.; one-brother, Harold K. of Sioux City; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Randy Huls, Ricky Huls, Jeff Huls, William Blatchford, Tom Hanifan, and Toby Thies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Marjorie, two sisters, and one brother.
