Ed. A. Thomarson Popular Citizen Passes Divide

Widely Known Resident Of Plymouth County Since Young Manhood

Active Business Man

Enjoyed A Large Acquaintance In The Community

Edward A. Thomarson, 71, well, known resident of Plymouth county for more than fifty years, died at his home, 631 Third Avenue SE., Monday morning at 6 o'clock. Death was due to an embolism in the lung. Mr. Thomarson had been ill for the past few weeks, but was thought to be recovering until Saturday when his condition took a rapid turn for the worse.

Mr. Thomarson suffered serious injuries in an automobile accident three years ago and although he recuperated and was actively engaged in business since, he never fully recovered his former rugger health.

Edward A. Thomarson was born at Carlisle, England, where he received his early education. When a youth h e came to Le Mars in the early eighties, and engaged in farming near Adaville. After several years on the farm he came to Le Mars and entered the land loan and insurance business in the nineties, and was associated in business with the late John N. Mathias, and afterwards with the late P. J. Tentinger. Of late years h was engaged in the automobile insurance business.

He was active in political and community affairs and served as Democratic county chairman in earlier days and was alderman of the city, representing the First ward for several years. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal church, of which he was a supporter and liberal contributor. He was affiliated with the Order of Masons and the Order of Elks, and enjoyed a large circle of acquaintance and friends among whom he was popular.

Active To The End

Possessed of a fine constitution and a buoyant spirit, he was constantly engaged in some pursuit or line of endeavor and had a cheery greeting and a kindly word for all with whom he came in contact.

While living on the farm he went back to England and was married to Margaret Weddell, April 28, 1885. They were a devoted couple and enjoyed a married life in perfect accord for more than a half century.

Besides his wife he is survived by a brother. Dr. James Thomarson, of Bournemouth, England, and three sisters, Mrs. Aitken, living in England; Mrs. Morehead, residing in Ireland, and Mrs. Maxton, in Australia.

Funeral On Wednesday

The funeral will b e held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in St. George's church, and interment made in the city cemetery. Pallbearers will be G. J. Richards, W. K. Veale, G. W. Kluckhohn, Ed Hentges, Ralph Dalton and M. A. Cass.

Members of the Masonic order will conduct services at the graveside.

Friends who desire may view the body Tuesday afternoon at the Beely chapel.
