ATTAINS GREAT AGE. John Jahr of Cherokee County Leaves Many Descendants. Marcus News: Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran church last Friday for John Jahr, who passed away early Wednesday morning, May 5, following a short illness with pneumonia. Rev. A.C. Ilten conducted the service. Had Mr Jahr lived until the 14th of November, he would have been 92 years of age.
John Jahr was born November 15, 1834, in Krona an der Bra, West Prussia.
Mr. Jahr was united in marriage to Miss Evrastine Auguste nee Renke, at Wekowiez, May 26, 1863. This union was blessed with eleven children six of whom preceded the father to the realms of eternity.
They celebrated their golden wedding and lived together sixty two years.
Mr. Jahr leaves to mourn his passing his widow and five children; Mrs. Rudolph Hoeppner, Cherokee; Mrs. August Krekow, Emil Jahr, and Mrs. Louisa Justi, Kingsley, 43 grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends.
