Kingsley News: James Joseph Davis, a pioneer of this locality, died at his home in Kingsley Sunday, July 16 after an illness of long duration. The deceased, a son of James Davis and Jane Belle Davis, was born in Brooklyn, August 23, 1843, and at the time of his demise was 79 years 10 months and 23 days of age.January 11, 1872, he was united In marriage at Morrison, Ill., to Sarah Fieldsend, who preceded him April 6, 1908, and came to Plymouth county in the year 1881, where he resided until his death.
To this union were born nine children, Ben Everet Davis, who died October 8, 1918; Lucy Heckenlively, who also preceded him October 23, 1916; John Fieldsend Davis, Lilly Blewett;
Chas. Dickens Davis, Minnie Heckley Davis,' Walter Bennett Davis, Stella Isabella Grubb and George Taylor Davis, who survive him. He also has a brother, George W. Davis of Sterling,
Ill., and a sisltr, Mrs. Sarah Conrady, of Clark, S. D.In April 1910, he was united in marriage to Sarah Janet Swalley, who passed away March 8, 1923.
Mr. Davis was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor, who during his long residence in this locality made many friends who, will greatly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Wilson, of the Congregational
church Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the Kinglsey Cemetery.
