Obituary
Rudolph A. Weidauer

Rudolph A. Weidauer was born in Champaign county, Ill., Dec. 8, 1884, and passed away Oct. 16, 1964, after a brief illness. He was the eighth child of a family of ten children of August and Tekla Weidauer.

Mr. Weidauer received his elementary education in Calhoun county, Iowa where his family had moved in 1892. When he was 14 they moved to LeMars, Iowa, and there he completed his high school and college education.

As a child he was baptized and later converted to the Christian faith and united with the Evangelical church of which he was a faithful member until he transferred to the Methodist church at Storm Lake when he moved there ten years ago. He served as Sunday school superintendent for 28 years and has always been active in all phases of church work.

In 1907 Mr. Weidauer was united in marriage to Kathryn Nagel, with whom he shared 57 joyous years. Thirty-eight years of this time were spent on their farm near Pomeroy. He was also a member of the Pomeroy Band.

The Weidauers were blessed with four children; Viola (Mrs. Sherwood Roser of Williamsburg, Iowa); Kenneth of Walnut, Calif.; Luella (Mrs. L.J. Dunlap of Waukesha, Wis.); and Lavonne (Mrs. Edgar Radke of Galva). Mrs. Weidauer's sister Dorothy, now Mrs. Vernon Johnson of Humboldt, also made her home with the family until her marriage.

Besides his wife and four children he is survived by 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Paul of Bellevue, Ill., and Rinehart of LeMars, and a host of relatives and friends.

All of his children were at his bedside before his death except Kenneth, who had been here recently to visit his parents and later returned for the funeral.

Mr. Weidauer was confined to the hospital for about two weeks, then passed away from a heart attack on October 16, his wife's birthday. He was 79 years old. The last rites were held at Fonda on Monday, Oct. 19.
