OBITUARY
Justus Lamont Streeter was born in Potter r county, Pennsylvania, July 28, 1830, and died at the home of his son, J. N., in K a n s a s City, Mo., September 29, 1910, aged 80 years, 2 months and 1 day. At the age of 22 years he was united in marriage with Mrs. Elvira Hammond, who departed this life March 13, 1895. Four children survive this union: Mrs. Mina Owens, of Kansas City, Kan; Mrs. Clara Edson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; J. N. Streeter and Mrs. Jessie Lister, of Kansas City, Mo.In 1862 Mr. Streeter enlisted in Company G, Twenty-fourth Iowa infantry, serving four years in the civil war. With his family, he moved to Akron, Iowa, in 1884, locating on a farm east of
here . Here he became a member of Biddlecome Post, No. 461, G. A. R. Residing in Akron's vicinity until 1897, he moved to Missouri, and for several years, up to the time of his death , lived with his children in K a n s a s City. In 1868 he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and lived a consistent Christian life, esteemed by all who knew him.The remains, accompanied by his son, Norman, of K a n s a s City, and d a u g h t e r, Mrs. Edson, of Cedar Rapids, arrived here Saturday evening. Funeral service was conducted by
Rev. W. G. Smith in t h e M. E church Sunday forenoon. Members of the G. A. R. and W. R. C. attended in a body and there were present a good number of old friends and neighbors to pay their last respects. Interment was in Riverside cemetery, beside his wife.
