Kingsley, Iowa - Gwendolyn M. Dorale, 77, of Kingsley, Iowa passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley. Rev. Duane Miesner will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitaiton will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rohde - Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.

Gwendolyn Mae De Jong was born on April 27, 1930 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Nettie (Iverson) De Jong. She graduated from Central High School in 1949 where she sang in the choir. Following High School Gwen worked at Woodbury Bank in Sioux City, Iowa.

On October 22, 1950 Gwen and Wayne Dorale were united in marriage at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton, Iowa. The couple lived in Lawton for three years. They moved to a farm north of Kingsley, Iowa where they have lived for the past 54 years.

Gwen was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kingsley where she participated in circle. She enjoyed music, reading, and was a lover of cats. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Gwen was also an avid letter writer and never forgot a birthday or special occasion.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years Wayne of Kingsley; her children Ruth Yoerger and her husband Gordon of Merrill, IA, Sharon Stenum and her husband Robert of Sioux City, IA, Carol Anderson and her husband Arden “Lefty” Anderson of Le Mars, IA, Calvin Dorale of Lawton, IA, Janet Dorale-Hampf and her husband Dieter of Lawton, IA, Peg Christenson and her husband Mike of Hutchinson, MN; grandchildren Robin Yoerger-Duple and her husband Phil, Michael Yoerger, Michelle Schraad and her husband Kevin, Eric Stenum and his wife Stacy, David Hampf, Mike Hampf, Butch Hampf, Alisa Hampf, Jen Fundermann and and her friend Jason Stearns , Ashley McCormick and her husband John, and Matt Christenson; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother Orville De Jong of Sioux City, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son Doug, a son Gordon, and a brother Glen.
