Lois L. Friske; 73 of Akron, died on Wednesday, September 16, 1998 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Sioux City unexpectedly.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 19, 1998 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron with Reverend William Flemr officiating. Interment was in Riverside, Cemetery in Akron; Schroeder Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were: Garry Jacobson, Darcy Jacobson, Clayton Jacobson, Russell Jacobson, Donald Dunham,Jr., Thomas Dunham, and Charles Crow. Honorary, pallbearers, were: Calvin Dunham and Arch Dunham. Organist: Carol Harris. Soloist: Tim Kelley.
Mrs. Friske was born on October 11, 1924, in Akron, Iowa, the daughter of Charles L. and Stella A. (Dunn) Dunham. She attended country school in rural Akron. She married Paul F. Friske on January 10r 1947 in Elk Point, S.D. Paul died on November 11, 1992. They had lived on farms in South Dakota and Iowa before moving to Akron in 1977. She had worked as a cook at the Highway Cafe in Akron for 18 years, she retired on January 15,1988.
Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and friends along with playing cards and reading. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Akron and Hoschler American Legion Post #186 Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son and his wife: Jack, and Judy Friske of Akron, Iowa; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister: Betty Jacobson of Akron, Iowa; three brothers: Donald Dunham, Sr. of Sioux Falls, S.D., Walter Dunham and Leo Dunham, both of Elk Point, S.D.; four sisters in law/ Ella Dunham, Sioux City, Goldie Friske, Akron, Edna Friske, Hawarden, Jeanette Dunham of Alcester; several
nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons: James and Paul; six brothers; Roy, Orville, Charles, Elmer, Robert, George; two sisters: Dorothy Dunham and Ruth Crow.
