(October 26, 1919 - September 25, 2006)MOVILLE, IOWA: WAYNE H. HOWARD, 86, of Moville, died Monday, September 25, 2006, at the Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Moville, Iowa. Burial will be at Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, Iowa. Visitation begins after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Moville, Iowa.
Wayne was born October 26, 1919, in Lawton, Iowa, the son of Elis R. and Gertrude (Hegstrom) Howard. He grew up in the Lawton area graduating from Lawton High School in 1937. He married Lila Mitchell January 12, 1945. Wayne owned and operated a tank wagon fuel delivery service in the area, it started as Plymouth Coop. In 1963 he built a service station in Moville, Iowa, which was known as Wayne’s Service. He retired from the fuel delivery service in 1982. He continued to remain very active helping his family and other people in any manner which was needed.
He was a member of the Moville United Methodist Church and a 57 year member of the Wink Sparks American Legion Post 303 of Moville, Iowa. He also served on the Moville Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and the Moville Town Council.
Survivors include his wife, Lila of Moville, Iowa, three sons, Gary W. Howard and his wife, Sue of Moville, Iowa, Randy L. Howard and his wife, Joyce of Midland, Michigan and Kirk L. Howard and his wife, Molly of Glendale, Arizona, five grandchildren, Shaun Howard and his special friend, Renee Pontious, Brian Howard, Trent Howard and his wife, Lisa, Kristin Johnson and her husband, Matthew, and Jaden Howard. Also, four great – grandchildren, Charlie and Beau Johnson and Clark and Colby Howard, two sisters, Phyllis Beeman of Burkrett, Texas, Adeline Riedesel of Glidden, Iowa, and one brother, Robert Howard and his wife, Beverly of Sioux City, Iowa, and one sister-in-law, Helen Howard of Springville, California, and one uncle, Stanley Howard of Porterville, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Bennett.
