OBITUARY—MRS. ANNA M. OAKS

Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of Mrs. Anna M. Oaks, formerly of Westfield, on Wednesday, February 27, 1957, at the Panska Nursing Home in Hawarden, after an extended illness, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 1 day.

Anna Mae Parker was born July 26, 1883, in Le Mars, Iowa, one of eleven children of Mr. and Mrs. William Parker. She spent her childhood in Le Mars and all her life in Plymouth county. She was united in marriage with Walter E. Oaks, of Adaville, Iowa, on January 14, 1903. To this union seven children were born.

Those surviving are three daughters, Velma (Mrs. Charles Kroksh), of Westfield, Iowa; Florence (Mrs. B. C. Boyd), of Yankton, S. D., and Gertrude (Mrs. Myron Waterbury), of Akron; two sons, Alvin, of Corsica, S.D., and Louis, of
Rock Valley, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on February 3, 1957, and two children, one in infancy and a daughter, Vivian, aged 26, on December 28, 1942.

Mrs. Oaks was a devoted wife and mother, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held last Friday at 2:00 p. m. in Westfield Congregational church, of which she was a member. Rev. Paul Williams, of Hawarden, officiated.

Pallbearers were John Martin, Tom Martin, Louis Conway, Albert Hummel and Alfred Hawks, of Westfield, and J. F. McVay, of Akron. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Adaville.
