Died, on Hans Spiecker’s farm in Fredonia township, Saturday, January 26, at 2:30 a.m., of old age, Franz Spiecker. Deceased was born in Germany, February 9, 1812, came to America in 1878, and became a member of the family of his son Hans, who had come to this country sixteen years before. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, Feb. 4, 1895, page 4.
