Funeral services for John H. Oetken, lifetime Plymouth county resident will be held at 1:30 p. m. on Wednesday, November 2 at his farm home and 2 o'clock at Christ Lutheran church. Grant township. Rev. Eldor Fruehling will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Mauer funeral home in charge of arrangements.
John H. Oetken was born on November 7, 1890 in Grant Township, Plymouth county. He was a farmer in Grant and Elgin townships and was a lifelong resident of this county. Gretha Catherine Lubben and John Oetken were married on February 26, 1919 in Grant township.
Deceased had been sick several months and was hospitalized 15 days. He was 64 years, 11 months and 23 days of age. He passed away October 30 at the Sacred Heart hospital.
Survivors include his widow, Gretha, 4 sons, Herman. Laurence, and Donald, all of Le Mars; Kenneth in armed services in Japan; four daughters, Mrs. Leonard Campbell of Le Mars; Miss Marlene Oetken at home; Mrs. James Slay in San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. John Reid of Bruno, California, Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Herman, Fred and Bruno Brunker of Le Mars, two sisters, Mrs. Garieth Renken and Mrs. Will Johnson of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Mr. Oetken was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran church in Grant township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
