TED BARKER DIES OF INJURY SUFFERED IN FALL AT FARM

William Edward (Ted) Barker, 78, Le Mars, died Wednesday at St. Joseph Mercy hospital, Sioux City.

He had been in critical condition since an accident Dec. 4 in which he suffered a brain injury in a fall at his son's farm and had undergone surgery.

Mr. Barker was born June 26, 1889, at Preston township, Plymouth county, and had been a lifelong resident of the county, living near Craig until his retirement to Le Mars. He lived at 535 Central Ave. NW.

His marriage to Caroline Gronemeyer took place in Preston township, Nov. 27, 1919. His parents were the late Isaac and Annie (Champeny) Barker.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John American Lutheran church, Le Mars. Burial will be in St. John church cemetery, Craig, under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

A prayer service will be at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. L. L. Belk and Rev. Arnold Imbrock will officiate.

Mr. Barker was a member of St. John American Lutheran church and served in many township offices. He was active in church and community affairs and a progressive farm operator.

Survivors are his wife, Caroline, Le Mars; a son, Norman of rural Ireton; a daughter, Mrs. John (Sharen) Gillette of San Francisco; four grandchildren; a brother, Walter, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Fara, both of Akron.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
