Ruth Eleanore Morehead, 88, of Akron, died Jan. 15, 1993, at the Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18 at the Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill. The Rev. Shirley Textor officiated. "People Need the Lord," was sung by Leah Jelken, and "Precious Memories" was sung by Greg Brown. Organist was Eva Brown. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Adaville, under the direction of the Schroeder Funeral
Home.

Casketbearers were Lorvan Hawkins, Dennis Hultgren, Paul Bringman. Bob Lewis, Richard Philips and Virgil Wilier.

Mrs. Morehead, the former Ruth Eleanore Talbott, was born Jan. 1, 1905 in Akron, Iowa, to Merrill and Sarah Baker Talbott. She was raised in Akron, and graduated in 1923 from the Akron high school. She attended the Good Samaritan Hospital School of nursing and in 1927 graduated from the Methodist school of nursing in Sioux City. Following the completion of her training, she worked as a nurse in the Akron area for many years.

She married Frank Morehead, Jan. 1, 1933, at the home of her parents in Akron. The couple farmed in the Adaville area for many years before retiring. Mr. Morehead died in 1985. Mrs. Morehead was a member of the Adaville United Methodist Church. She was an active member of her church and in the Johnson Twp. Farm Bureau. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Akron, and at the time of her death the oldest auxiliary member.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dick (Marjorie) Jelken of Akron; four grandsons, Eric, Jim, Nathan and Chad Jelken; one granddaughter, Ellen Reynebeau; five great-grandchildren, Mike, Leah and Beth Jelken and Peter and Emily Ruth Reynebeau; one sister, Muriel Winquist of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank; and one sister, Ora Bringman.
