Elmer C. Schuette, 74, of Craig, IA died on Thursday, July 6, 1989 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars after an extended illness. Services were held on Saturday morning, July 8, 1989 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, the Reverends Beth Graham and Marvin Mueller officiating. Burial was in St. John Cemetery in Craig under the direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mr. Schuette was born on February 10, 1915, at Watertown, SD, the son of William and Anna Eilers Schuette. He served with the U. S. Army for four years and eight months in World War II. On June 6, 1942, he was united in marriage with Helen Schomacker of Rolla, Mississippi. They farmed in Plymouth County until moving to Craig in 1966. He worked at Sioux Tools in Le Mars from 1963 until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Schuette was a member of Heeren-McHale-Wilken Post #724 of the American Legion in Brunsville, IA and was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Schuette and his wife Joan of Brandon, SD; three daughters, Susan Henrich and her husband, Gayle, of Remsen, IA, Sandra Kroeger and her husband, Dennis, also of Remsen, and Lori Luken and her husband, Mike, of Hull, IA; four grandsons; four granddaughters; three sisters, Elsie Pageler of Craig, Edna House and her husband, Glenn, of Lake Isabella, CA, and Anna Marbach and her husband, Lowell, of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Emil, Paul, Walter and Ernest Schuette; and six half-brothers, Henry, Ed, William, Herman, Otto, and Fred Schuette.
