Yesterday morning the family of Mike Kruduig received the sad Intelligence by telegram of the death, by railroad accident, of Eugene M. Chown, formerly of this city.

Mr. Chown was for some time yard master at Cherokee, and while attending to his duties got his foot caught in a frog and not being able to extricate himself at once was run over by the cars, the middle portion of the body together with the right leg and foot being crushed and mangled in a most terrible manner. By grasping the car so as to hold his head up he saved his arms and face from any injury. He lingered but a few hours and although ho very much desired to live long enough to see his friends from this
city, he passed away before they could arrive.

The body was brought to this city for interment. The funeral services from the home of Mr. Krudwig this afternoon will be conducted by Bev. D. W. Fahs. Deceased was a son-in-law of Geo. Freer of this place. Mrs. Chown being a sister
of Mrs. Krudwig with whom she will reside
for the present.
