Note: The paper says he was born in 1857 but his gravestone in Riverside say 1858. That would coincide with his age since he would have turned 82 about a month later. He married Anna Christiansen.

Henry Dirks One of Early Settlers

Henry Dirks, 81, a resident of Akron for 57 years, died Saturday in the Sacred Heart Hospital following a sickness of a month.

Funeral services and burial took place Monday afternoon at Akron at the Methodist church.

Mr. Dirks was born June 22, 1857, in Germany. He came to the United States in 1872 and settled with his parents near Akron ten years later. He had lived in or near Akron since.

He is survived by four daughters and four sons, Mrs. Josephine Stansberry of Sioux City; Mrs. Vera Blackwell and Mrs. Evelyn Robbins of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Catherine Finnegan; William, Elmer and Robert Dirks of Milwaukee and John R. Dirks of Akron, and a sister, Mrs. Meta Johnson of Sterling.
