DEATH CLAIMS PETER MOLZEN

WAS ONE OF THE PIONEER RESIDENTS OF PRESTON TOWNSHIP, THIS COUNTY

Death claimed Peter Molzen, a pioneer of Plymouth county, at his home, 101 Second Avenue SW., Thursday morning. May 18. Mr. Molzen had been suffering from an incurable internal malady the past four months. He was seventy-four years of age and had lived in the county since boyhood.

Hans Peter Molzen was born at Soernpholz, Schleswig-Holstein, Europe, on April 26, 1859, and came to America with his parents when a child in 1871. They located in Benton county, Iowa, where they lived until 1883 when the family located in Preston township, this county. Mr. Molzen farmed successfully for many years until they retired from active farm work and came to Le Mars to live, purchasing a desirable home here.

Mr. Molzen was united in marriage with Miss Mary Muecke, who survives him, with seven children who are Mrs. Rick Frerichs, Henry Molzen, Mrs. Herman Frerichs, Herbert, Walter, Alfred and Elmer Molzen, all residing in this county. Two children preceded him in death. There are nine grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Chris Molzen, of Le Mars, Fred Molzen, of Shellsburg, Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Garber, of Van Horne, Iowa.

Mr. Molzen was active in political and community affairs while a resident of Preston. He was a charter
member of St. John's Lutheran church which he helped to build in early days and held official positions in tho church during his membership. He was widely acquainted and was respected as a good citizen by those who knew him.

The funeral will be from the home in this city at 1 p. m. and services held at the Preston township Lutheran church. Rev. Theo. Meyer, pastor of the church, and Rev. Paul Meyer, of Hampton, Iowa, will conduct the services. Interment will be made in the Preston township cemetery.
