Ralph Huebner, 92, of Beresford, South Dakota, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Beresford, South Dakota with Reverend Robert Hansen officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitations will be after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2006, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at the church in Beresford. The Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Casket Bearers: Roger Jensen, Randy Jensen, Bryce Jensen, Jim Fedderson, Warren Wilson, and Bob James.

Ralph R. Huebner was born July 9, 1914 in Union County, South Dakota, the son of Wilhelm and Delinda (Thom) Huebner. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. He attended Mt. Hope country school in South Dakota. He helped his father on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Rose Vanderham on April 25, 1939 in Akron, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa and later in South Dakota for over 51 years. Ralph raised chickens and sold their eggs for many years. After retiring, he continued to live on the farm.

He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Beresford where he had served as head usher for many years. He enjoyed his flower gardens. But most all, he enjoyed his life on the farm and raising chickens. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of over 67 years, Rose of Beresford, SD; 2 daughters: Marjean Van Scharrel and her husband Boyd of Howard, SD, and Marcella Buum and her husband Alvern of Beresford, SD; 5 grandchildren: Gayle Bechen and her husband John of Letcher, SD, Joel Van Scharrel and his wife Tammy of Sioux Falls, SD, Michelle Radack and her husband Mark of Tindall, SD, Jerry Buum and his wife Laurie of Elk Point, SD, and Jeff Buum and his wife Carrie of Sioux Falls, SD; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: August Huebner and his wife Anna of Akron, IA, and Walter Huebner of Hawarden, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and a lot of good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Gertrude Papritz; and 5 brothers: Albert Huebner, Arthur Huebner, John Huebner, Rueben Huebner, and Willie Huebner on November 27, 2006.
