DEATH COMES TO AUGUST BENGTSON FRIDAY MORNING

Rites Are Held Here Monday For Former Akron Young Man

August N. Bengtson, a former Akron man, passed away at the home of his sisters, Mrs. Wm. Linn and Miss Lena Bengtson, in Sioux City, Iowa Friday morning, October 28, 1949, after an illness of several months, at the age of 42 years, 2 months and 25 days.

August Bengtson was born in Union County, South Dakota, August 3 1907. He was1 the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Jens Bengtson. When a child, he moved to Akron with his parents. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Akron. He resided in Akron until about 1935, when he took employment in Sioux City. On September 16, 1939, he married Louise Gribas, of Sioux City. Before entering the service, August was employed in the Boeing Aircraft plant, of Seattle, Wash. He entered the service June 16, 1942, at Tacoma, Wash., and was attached to the 852nd Engr. Avn. Bn. as a Diesel Mechanic.

On May 5, 1943, he was sent overseas, where he spent two years and five months. He served in the campaigns in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland, Central Europe. He received his discharge from the service at Camp McCoy., Wis., on November 9, 1945.

After returning from the service, he made his home in Seattle, where he again was employed by Boeing Air-craft up until about a year ago, when he was forced to give up his position because of his health. He returned to Sioux City, October 2, to the home of his sisters, where he passed away.

Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Louise; four sisters, Mrs. Sever Wolden, of Belle Fourche, S. D.; Miss Lena Bengtson of Sioux City; Mrs. 0. F. Bohman, of Canton, Ill., and Mrs. Wm. Linn, of Sioux City; one brother, William, of Akron; nephews and nieces, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held here in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, preceded by a brief service at the Rossow Funeral Home, with Pastor David J. Roy officiating. Mrs. Henning Shoulberg accompanied a male quartet composed of Karl Silkebakken, Clifford and Arden Johnson and H. J. Behmer, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross," "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Rock of Ages." Members of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary attended in a body. Military honors were accorded at the burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the services were Mrs. Harold Mallberg and Leslie Bengtson, of Cogswell, N. D., and Jewel Wolden,
of Belle Fourche, S. D., niece and nephews of the deceased
