Ann M. Bengtson, 94, of Akron, Iowa, formerly of Dawson, Minnesota, passed away Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church in Dawson, Minnesota with Reverend Herbert Rotunda officiating. Burial will follow in the Dawson Cemetery in Dawson, Minnesota. Visitations will be after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 with the family present from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa. There will also be visitation from noon until service time Friday at the church.

Casket Bearers: Kerry Boyd, Konni Tracy, Kevin McCutchan, Gary Saunders, Pamela Saunders, and Theresa Boyd.

Honorary Casket Bearers: Christine Boyd, Shannon Boyd, Jacob Tracy, Kara Tracy, Dr. Kim Tracy, and Tina Tracy.

Ann was born August 28, 1912 in Howard, South Dakota, the daughter of James and Sophie (Hansen) Jorgensen. After the death of her father at the age of 3, she was raised by her mother in Howard along with her brothers, Jens and Howard, and a sister, Loretta. She graduated from Howard High School. Ann was united in marriage to Arnold Bengtson on November 14, 1934; together they had one daughter, Janice, born in 1937. They lived in Hills, Minnesota, Sibley, Iowa, and Kerkhoven, Minnesota. In 1944, they moved to Dawson, Minnesota where Arnold was a butter maker for the Dawson Creamery. Ann worked at the creamery, wrapping the butter. Later, she was a telephone operator and then worked as a checker in the grocery store until she retired.

Ann enjoyed dancing, cards, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends. She moved to Akron, Iowa after her husband passed away to live in a home built for her by her grandson, Kerry, and to be cared for by her daughter, Jan. She lived in the home until she moved to the Akron Care Center 2 years ago at the age of 92. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dawson, Minnesota for many years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Boyd and her husband Dr. Kenneth of Akron, Iowa; her grandchildren: Pamela Saunders and her husband Gary and their son, Kevin of Midland, TX, Kerry Boyd and his wife Theresa and their daughter's, Christine and Shannon of Big Timber, Montana, and Konni Tracy and her husband Dr. Kim and their children, Jacob and his wife Tina, and Kara and her daughter, Iyana, all of Surprise, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers: Jens and Howard; and a sister: Loretta.
