Services held Saturday for city employee, Arden L. Boetger
Arden LeRoy Boetger, 61, of Akron, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Marian Health Center, Sioux City.
Services were held Saturday at Wesley United Methodist church, Akron. Rev. Don Greenough officiated. Shirley Banks sang "Just As I Am" and Gary Tucker sang "Be Still My Soul", accompanied by Renee Banks, pianist. Eric Banks was organist. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, under direction of Schroeder funeral home, Akron.
Pallbearers were Bob Nielsen, Lee Harris, Jim Buryanek, Delbert Maynard, Tom Ross, Bob Popken, Don Schomberg, Lyle Brockihann, and Tom Brooks.
Mr. Boetger was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Portland township, rural Akron, Iowa, the son of Leander and Ella (Erickson) Boetger. He married Bernice Bliss, Sept. 24, 1950, in Westfield. He worked for a few years at Higman Sand and Gravel and then moved to the family farm southeast of Akron. In 1964 they moved to Westfield where he operated a propane truck for A.W. Hummel. In 1967 they moved to Akron where he was a lineman for the city of Akron. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist church where he was serving as a trustee. He was a member of a Horseshoe League and Tri-State Coachman Camping Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Craig and Ann of Le Mars, and Kevin and Tammi of Sioux City; a daughter, Marci Dennison of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Cari, Casey, TJ, Travis, Trevor, Tyler and Kaleigh; and two brothers, Donald of Akron and Lowell of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Halweg.
