Don Boetger, 88, of Le Mars passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

A Memorial Service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with Reverend Gary Landsness of St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitations will be from 6:00 p.m. until service time. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.

Donald Leander Boetger was born August 16, 1922 on the family farm Southeast of Akron, Iowa to Leander Henry “Jim” and Ella M. (Erickson) Boetger. He attended country school near Chatsworth, Iowa. Don began his lifelong career of farming in Union County, South Dakota until moving to a farm South of Akron. He continued to until his retirement. Don moved to Le Mars in 1999.

Don loved to go to dances and go fishing with friends. He enjoyed raising horses. Later in life, he enjoyed going for rides to look at farms and enjoy the countryside. Attending the Clay County Fair was always enjoyable with family and friends.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Brenda Groon and her husband Jerry of Akron and Benita Yacevich and her husband Jerry of Dakota City, Nebraska, South Dakota; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Lowell Boetger and his wife Mary of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Bernie Boetger of Akron; a very dear friend, Gladys Kolker of Le Mars; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dayle; a brother, Arden Boetger; a sister, Betty Helweg; and a granddaughter, Jessie.

Note: Don was at one time married to Blanche Bultman Boetger.
