Rites Are Held Wednesday Morning For Dayle Boetger
A traffic accident that cost the life of Dayle Lee, 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boetger, south of town, occurred late last Friday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a. car driven by James Steckelberg, 15, of R. 2, Elk Point, at a point about four miles south of here on Primary 12. The auto was southbound and it was reported the cyclist came up out of the ditch on the west side of the road. It is said the Steckelberg youth was driving the car under a restricted work driver's license.
Dayle Lee Boetger was born in Akron, Iowa, October 12, 1950, and attained the age of 14 years, 9 months and 25 days. He was baptized in Immanuel Church November 19, 1950.
He attended school at the Westfield Community School and would have been in the tenth grade this coming school term. He was especially active in 4-H Club work being a member of the lowest Club and was successful in winning a number of prizes in county and regional fairs. He was willing to work many hours to earn these honors.
His class of Confirmation instruction included 26 members. On June 14, 1964, he was confirmed in the class at Immanuel. He was a member of the Sunday School since early childhood and of the Luther League since the summer of 1964.
Dayle was a friendly, pleasant young man who made friends easily. Among those who survive to mourn his departure are: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boetger; two sisters, Brenda and Benita, boh at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Boetger of Akron and Mr. and Mrs. John Bultman, Sr., of Chatsworth, Iowa, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Immanuel Lutheran church in Akron, with Pastor David J. Roy officiating. Mrs. Stuart Harris was vocalist and Mrs. Alvin Frisk was organist.
Casket bearers were Dallas Huebner, Dennis Bultman, Gerald Bultman, Harlan Bultman, Ronald Halweg, and Ronald Dreeszen. Interment was in Riverside cemetery, Akron.
