Blanche Boetger, 84, of Akron, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007 at a Sioux City hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Akron, Iowa. Reverend Dawn Quame will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitations will be after 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2007, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron, Iowa. Visitation will resume 1-hour prior the services on Tuesday at the church.

G. Blanche Boetger was born October 9, 1922, on the family farm near Chatsworth, Iowa, the daughter of John, Sr. and Henrietta “Hattie” (Van Wyhe) Bultman. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith. She attended country school near Chatsworth where she was the spelling bee champion for the 8th grade. Following her schooling, she helped her family on the farm and taught country school. She was united in marriage to Donald Boetger on September 16, 1943 in Akron. They were married for 56 years. She was a homemaker for her family. Later, she was an office assistant for Mid Sioux Opportunity for over 17 years, retiring in 1997. Most recently, she was a resident on the Ridgewood Apartments in Akron.

She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. She loved the simple things in life, especially her flowers and kittens at her daughter’s farm. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. She also loved baking sugar cookies and other goodies for her family and friends. But most of all, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a willingness to help others in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her two daughters: Brenda Groon and her husband Jerry of Akron, IA and Benita Yacevich and her husband Jerry of Dakota City, NE; 9 grandchildren: Jerad Groon and his wife Amanda and their son, Justin Lane of Geddes, SD, Josh Groon and his wife Lacy of Akron, IA, Laci Hough and her daughter Alexis of Dakota City, NE, Chance Engel and his special friend, Trisha Clem of Dakota City, NE, Kayla Engel and her special friend, Chance Torticill, and their daughter, Cheyane of Dakota City, NE, Kelly Yacevich and her fiancé Mike Morgan of Lincoln, NE, Ashley Yacevich of Omaha, NE, Heather Yacevich of Kearney, NE, and Jeremy Yacevich of Dakota City, NE; a brother-in-law: Walter Huebner of Hawarden, IA; and several other in-laws and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Dayle; granddaughter: Jessie Groon; 2 brothers: John and George Bultman; and a sister: Jo Huebner.
